The Sinking of the Lusitania, released in 1918, is an animated short film by American artist Winsor McCay. It features a short 12 minute explanation of the sinking of RMS Lusitania after it was struck by two torpedoes fired from a German U-boat. The film was one of many animated silent films published to create anti-German sentiment during World War I. McCay illustrated some 25,000 drawings for the production. The film is stylized as a documentary, informing viewers on details from the actual...

. In the history of film, Jack Nance is the only mainstream Hollywood actor to appear in an underground fetish video. Some TV actors (Dana Plato, Jaimee Foxworth) have done porn, and a few porn stars (Traci Lords, Ginger Lynn) and fetish performers (Greta Carlson, Desi d'Angelo, aka Jasae) have done regular B-movie acting roles -- but Nance is unique. Nance starred in David Lynch's first film "Eraserhead" (1976) and did bit parts in many of his later films plus a supporting role in...

"Love is a Four Letter Word", aka The Love Girls (1966) appears to be the first full-length film to show a fetishistic sorority initiation ceremony. The hazing includes bondage, blindfolds, ice rubbing, and hard spanking with a big sorority paddle. A sexploitation gem by Bob Cresse and R. L. Frost. They specialized in harsh grindhouse "roughies", but this obscure film is more of a dark psychological study of repressed desire.

The PMRC proposal is an ill-conceived piece of nonsense which fails to deliver any real benefits to children, infringes the civil liberties of people who are not children, and promises to keep the courts busy for years dealing with the interpretational and enforcemental problems inherent in the proposal's design. It is my understanding that in law First Amendment issues are decided with a preference for the least restrictive alternative. In this context, the PMRC demands are the equivalent of...

Can I Get An Amen? is an audio installation that unfolds a critical perspective of perhaps the most sampled drums beat in the history of recorded music, the Amen Break. It begins with the pop track Amen Brother by 60's soul band The Winstons, and traces the transformation of their drum solo from its original context as part of a 'B' side vinyl single into its use as a key aural ingredient in contemporary cultural expression. The work attempts to bring into scrutiny the techno-utopian notion...

This short film was a test for Edison's "Kinetophone" project, the first attempt in history to record sound and moving image in synchronization. This was an experiment by William Dickson to put sound and film together either in 1894 or 1895. An amazing short by an "orchestra" of vibraphone players. Some viewers have noted that this film seems to be a mirror image of how things are supposed to be. This is because original Soundie films were printed backwards so that they could appear correct when played in the Panoram machine (an early film jukebox).
